Lost & Found

Never lost,
      Never found,
Is a cold day in this,
    Paradise,
      The sun was shinning,
           As your lips turned blue,

       Will you ever remember,
          A day past November,
    Collapsed,
         This friendship,
               Fades away.

Honesty vs Reality

Our first reaction,
    is the most honest,

   Which,
      is immediately followed by,
           A retraction,

   This revision,
        Is a calculated decision,
           of what is considered,
         acceptable behavior,

           This can only be learned,
       through the observation,
                      of  a constantly evolving,
                surrounding.

"I Have a Dream" 50 Years Later (We Still Have Work To Do)

I believe racism,
     Is the checkbox,
   On an application,

        The information stored,
           In databases,
                That is not relevant,
              To your ability,

To be used as an after thought,
If you can do a job,
              Go to school,
               Be in the Military,

          My advice
Don't ask in the first place,
               Don't mention
                        if your,
                  black or white,
           Old or young,
               Male or Female,

      Not in conversation,
   Not on a form,
          Never,

      Let us remove the word,
         From the dictionary,
            Today,
                Till the end of time.

Waiting

Waiting for a train here in conshohocken,
I hit my baby up I ask her what she's watchin,
She says the TVs out on the who's damn street,
She's bored to death and waitin on me--ee--ee  (triplet)

         Into the city,
            We'll escape this mundane day,
         I'll save you,
               You'll save me,

Syria

There is a problem,
    In a country far away,
Where no one wants to go.

Ruled by a dictator,
   Whos backed by our.
  Cold Enemy,

   Who's ally,
        Is our greatest foe,
   And supports,
        Hezbollah,

      But its not all,
  Rose pedals,
     The other side,
   Extremists Rebels,

       A power vacuum,
  To ensue,
           As soon as he's ousted,

   We do have allies,
But they are as weary of war,
      As the American public,

   That's the price,
      We now pay,
     For lying to the Americans,

Fast forward,

   Civil war,
        2 years in the making,
    And a desperate regime,
               Holding a forbidden weapon,

  Our president,
       Draws a line,
    In the sand,

       But lines change,
   As the tide came in,
         And we drew it again,

           However.....

    The unthinkable happens,
 The weapons are allegedly released,
        Worse then last time,
And the UN is sent in to investigate,

  Shot at,
      The site in question,
       Shelled,
     Scattering the evidence,
        Across the sand

         The UN,
Is at the mercy of the host country,
      And is mostly ineffective,

            Its what you would expect
                when investigating war crimes,

Like a mother looking for drugs,
Letting the child know she's looking,
                  before she looks.

   Diplomacy,
Unfortunately is the UNs weakness,
And whos right do they have,
To infringe on a countries sovereignty,

        But the process is broken,
And they leave the dirty work,
         For other nations,

        Instead of deploying,
   Bombing,
       Blowing up Syria,
          Like the response America Delivers,

     We need a stronger UN

  A strong investigation arm,
   To obtain accurate,
          Reliable information,

   A humanitarian force,
To rebuild from the power vacuum,
      and protect innocence,

    A police force,
          To arrest those responsible,
       For war crimes.

   All these issues,
Must be addressed by the world,
And not just the United States.

We are only a small part,
      An ocean away.

Blue Ink

There was a book,
   on a shelf,
 With dust covering its binding,
     Awaiting
        to be cracked open.

At first it was in constant use,
  Adjacent to a night stand,
         Bookmarked,
           Flipped through,
    Every night,
        Until its completion.

    But now it sat,
      In alphabetical order,
   Adjacent to its brothers,
        Awaiting the prying eyes,
     Of another reader,

    Luckily,
This book was in an office,
      Of well known professor,
Where students would come and go,
      Looking to broaden their horizon.

        One such girl,
     Took notice,
          And requested the book home,
Using a pen to mark the pages.

  On one fateful night,
        The pen exploded,

   Thankfully,
       the ink dried,
and she was able to finish it,
But was worried about its state.

             She eventually forgot about it..

    A month or so passed,
The end of the year was rolling in,
the professor asked for the book back,

She hoped her professor would forget,
   But from experience,
          the professor lost many books,
     from poor college students,
             Over the years,

        She felt bad,
And decided to do the noble thing,
And bought a two new books,
             One for herself,
          And one for her professor.

    Years later,
         I met this girl,
And I just so happened to be,
              going through her bookshelf,
When she told me the story about the book,

Naturally wanting to broaden my horizons,
             I too borrowed the book,
        Which i found fantastic,
                And,
Threw it in my trunk of my car meaning to give it back,
            But constantly forgetting.

It wasn't until we split up,
That she asked for it back,
And i went to get the book,
And found that a pen exploded on it...

      What are the odds,

I went to the book store,
       immediately,
          to do the noble thing,

But also bought a second book,
         For the story,
              And a memory.

If you were curious the book is titled: You Shall Know Our Velocity - By David Edgars
