The halls of our past are painted over and over again saluting today’s heroes while the fading voices of our forefathers echo in the paints hidden meaning. A trusty scholar can pick out the certain discolorations in the walls and tell the stories that were once told there. However some of the walls are painted over completely by the king whose goal in life is to unite his people into one coherent cause, trying to iron out individuality so people work better in society.
The king decided that the only way to unite his people was to eliminate all study of the past. Thus creating a series of tests that children must pass before moving to the next stage of their life. These tests focused his people more on a standardized general test and gradually regional knowledge was lost. The king altered the test again, eliminating the dividing factors of history. This spawned the fall of countries as a singular government was erected.
Now the world is united with all his subjects working toward one singular cause. And the problems of our past faded into the halls. For future scholars now look at the halls in confusion; they're simply not able to grasp the hidden clues that lie beneath.
Only the brightest and oldest scholars who remember the old days stare in horror as they begin to understand how he became king...
